Description
Cypsela is Salvi Danés’ new project, a work that delves into his vital and creative connection with the Empordà region, in Catalonia.
The title refers to the mythical city mentioned by Rufus Festus Avienus in Ora Maritima: an ancient enclave located along this stretch of coastline which, despite never having been conclusively identified — and although it remains uncertain whether it ever truly existed — has endured within the historical and symbolic imagination of the territory. This idea of a possible place, evoked yet unattainable, forms the conceptual core of the project.
His first book, Transmontanus (Ediciones Anómalas, 2014), already marked the beginning of a personal process of return to a landscape to which he has been connected since childhood. With Cypsela, Danés continues and deepens this trajectory, approaching the Empordà not only as a physical space, but also as a territory of mythical and emotional projection. The landscape emerges as a reality inhabited by layers of time, memory and fiction, where human presence, stories, and traces of the past shape a geography that is at once tangible and imagined.
